Infographic: EU Airspace Violations – Autumn 2025

In 2025, Russia intensified hybrid attacks against NATO and EU member states. Drones, military aircraft, and “unknown” aerial vehicles appeared near critical infrastructure, civilian airports, government buildings, and military bases.

These violations have been recorded across Europe — from the Baltic states and Poland to Norway, Germany, France, and Belgium. They are deliberate actions aimed at intimidating Europe and testing its air defense systems.

High-level officials have also been put at risk. On 30 September 2025 in Bulgaria, the plane carrying European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen experienced a GPS system failure during landing. Earlier, on 2 September 2025, the Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda’s Spartan aircraft was delayed from landing due to the threat of a drone near Vilnius Airport.
